Absolutely loved this book. I read so few young adult novels these days which take so much time in fleshing out a romance or a relationship that I had almost forgotten the charms of an old-school love story. This book reminded me of that in one go - how a set of realistic characters and a family drama can make a book so endearing and special. And the fact that there is no need for sexual scenes to portray the intensity of feelings between two people.
Matt and Julie and their problems were very real and I could think of them as people any of us could be acquainted with in real life. No sexist vampires with pasty skin and six-pack abs, no starry-eyed maidens with bad inferiority complexes and no annoying cliches.
A tender, heart-warming story about coping with loss, bonding between family members and love.
